Halloween 2009

Halloween was really fun this year! Both kids are old enough to enjoy the holiday, albeit in different ways.

I enjoyed going to help with Bailey's school party. The kids had a lot of fun and were very well-behaved. I, however, now realize that being a kindergarten teacher takes a very, very, very special and patient person. While we lament the fact that her kindergarten isn't all-day, that 2.5 hours was VERY long. :-)

We also had a great Fall Fest at the church. As you can see, there were all kinds of games to play, a cake walk, and pumpkin carving.

I wonder where the toilet came from? I tried not to think about it....

Nolan spent his time rolling a toy car down this ramp...even while the bigger kids took their turn tossing the balls into the hole.

Then came the big night. Jason and I whipped up a few ghoulish treats for dinner....you can't really tell what they are in the picture, but we had pumpkin pizza, bat wings (chicken wings), mummy dogs, eye balls (deviled eggs), and alien fingers (carrots). Quite the mismatched dinner, but it was fun for the kids.

The trick or treating was a highly anticipated event for Bailey. She was psyched and ready to go. We didn't know how Nolan would do, but he wasn't scared (for the most part) and got the hang of things really quickly. He walked up to a house, said "trick or treat" (his version of it, that is) and then "thank you" after he got the candy. Then, to us, he kept saying "more candy." Too cute.

The big news of the night was that Nolan was a celebrity. While I knew his costume would be cute...that's why I picked it.....people went crazy over it. Women called their husbands from in front of the game on t.v. to come look at the little golfer with his golf clubs. People on a hayride asked to take a picture with him. It was too funny. Then, to add to the sense of celebrity, Nolan fell into a habit of handing me both his candy bag and golf bag between each house and had Jason push him in his push car. Then, at the next house, he would ask for his stuff back and go up to the house, only to hand me his gear again immediately after acquiring the candy. We felt like personal assistants to our 2 year-old!

Happy Halloween

Seriously cute kids! I love Nolan's outfit and am not surprised that he became quite the celebrity.
:)

I'm also impressed with the Halloween themed food. I'm going to have to steal that idea when Owen's old enough to realize. [wink]

I love how you came to comment first thing this morning after I expressed my dismay that I have all these readers who don't comment, which makes me feel like a loser! :-)

Alas, I am the loser who didn't comment when she first read the blog. How can you know that I think your kids are cute as pie if I don't say so?!
